What Solar Guide is
Solar Guide is an independent research and comparison site for solar equipment sold in Pakistan. We publish specifications, price ranges and calculators so that buyers can work out what they need and what it should cost before they talk to anyone selling it.
We are a publication, not a supplier. We do not sell, import, install, repair or service solar equipment. We hold no stock, we do not act as an agent for any manufacturer or distributor, and nothing on this site is an offer to sell.
How we are funded
Manufacturers do not pay us. No brand pays to appear in our catalogue, to rank higher in a listing, or to be described more favourably. There are no sponsored products and no affiliate commission on anything we link to. Specifications come from the manufacturer’s own datasheet regardless of who the manufacturer is.
Installers pay to be listed. Companies in our installer directory pay a fee for their listing. The directory is therefore a list of companies who chose to be listed, not a ranking of the best installers in Pakistan, and it should be read that way.
The fee buys a listing and nothing else. It does not buy a position in the list, a more favourable description, or any influence over our product data.
Advertising. The site carries none today. If that changes, advertising will be clearly distinguishable from our own content and will buy space on a page and nothing more. Our privacy policy sets out what advertising cookies would mean for you.
Conflicts of interest
One of our authors runs a solar installation company. Muhammad Adnan Mushtaq is Managing Director of United Solar Pakistan, and he writes our equipment and installation guides. We think a working installer is the right person to write them. We also think you should know that before you read one.
So there are rules attached to it, and they are ours to keep:
- United Solar Pakistan is not listed in our installer directory, and will not be while he writes for us. Nobody should be a paying listing on a site they write for.
- He takes no part in deciding which installers are listed, what they are charged, or whether one passes our check. Those are decisions about his competitors.
- He does not rank products. Comparison tables are built from manufacturer datasheets and collected market prices. No author can move a product up a list.
- His pages are checked by someone with nothing to sell. Dr Gulistan Raja, Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at UET Taxila, reviews the engineering, and the date he read the page is printed on it.
- His interest is declared on every article he writes, in the box at the foot of it, and on his author page. Not only here.
Our other authors are electrical engineers working in transmission, distribution and academia. None of them sells solar equipment or installation, and none of them has a listing in the directory.
If a page reads as though it were written to sell you something, tell us at info@solarguide.pk. That is exactly the failure this section exists to catch, and we would rather hear it from you than not hear it at all.
Where the specifications come from
Every specification we publish is taken from the manufacturer’s own published datasheet. We do not copy specifications from retailer listings, which frequently carry errors, mixed-up model numbers and figures that do not match what the manufacturer actually states.
Two limits worth understanding:
- Datasheets change. Manufacturers revise specifications between production runs, often without changing the model name. The datasheet we worked from may not be the revision covering the unit a dealer is offering you.
- Testing conditions matter. Panel output is quoted at Standard Test Conditions, which are laboratory conditions, not a rooftop in Multan in June. Battery cycle life is only meaningful alongside the depth of discharge and end-of-life threshold it was measured at. We publish those conditions wherever the datasheet gives them.
Always confirm the specification against the datasheet for the exact model and revision you are being offered, before you buy.
About the prices
Prices on this site are market ranges, not quotations. Nobody is offering to sell you anything at these figures, and we cannot obtain them for you.
They are compiled from Pakistani wholesale and retail rate lists, and each carries the date it was sourced. Solar panels in Pakistan are quoted per watt rather than per panel, and that rate moves with the dollar, sometimes within a single week. Treat our figures as a band to negotiate inside and a way to recognise a quote that is far outside the market, not as today’s price.
A price that looks dramatically better than our range usually means something: a different model, an older revision, a B-grade panel, or a figure that will change once you commit.
About the calculators
The calculators produce estimates based on stated assumptions. Each one shows the assumptions it is using in its own fine print: sun hours for your city, self-consumption share, buy-back rate, system losses.
Your actual result will differ. Roof orientation and shading, dust, temperature, the installer’s workmanship, your consumption pattern and future tariff changes all move the outcome, and no calculator can know them. Use the output to size a system and sanity-check a proposal, not as a projection of what you will earn.
Rules and tariffs change
Net metering rules, NEPRA tariffs, DISCO slab structures, duties and import rules all change, sometimes with little notice and sometimes retrospectively. We update our guides when we become aware of a change, but there will be periods where the published position is behind the current one. Confirm anything that affects your decision with NEPRA or your DISCO directly.
Installation is electrical work
A solar installation involves mains voltage, direct-current strings that can be lethal even in daylight with the inverter off, roof work and, for net metering, a grid connection. It must be designed and installed by suitably qualified and experienced people. Nothing on this site is installation instruction, and our sizing tools are not a substitute for a site survey by someone competent.
The installer directory
There is one way to reach an installer here. Open their page in our directory, press the button to see their number, and approach them yourself. We take no details from you and we are not part of the conversation that follows.
What we check. Before a listing goes live we ask the company for its registration papers and for previous installations we can check, and we look at both. That is the whole of what we check, and it is a check on paper at one moment in time.
What we do not check. We have not inspected their workmanship. We do not visit sites, test installations, audit electrical work, confirm their staff numbers or verify any claim they make about what they can deliver. A company that passed our check in March can be a different company by December.
We do not set their prices, supervise their work, hold their warranties, guarantee that anyone will answer you, or take any part in what you agree with them. Any contract is between you and that installer, and we are not a party to it.
Satisfy yourself about any company before you pay a deposit. Ask for recent installations you can visit and speak to those customers yourself. Get the warranty in writing and check who honours it, the installer or the manufacturer. Do not pay the full amount up front.
If you find an error
We would rather know. If a specification, price or statement here is wrong, email info@solarguide.pk with the page and what you believe is incorrect. If you can point to the manufacturer datasheet or an official source, better still. We correct errors when they are shown to us, and we do not need you to be polite about it.

The information on this site is provided as it stands, for general information. We take care to get it right, but we do not warrant that it is complete, current or free of error.
Decisions about what to buy, who to buy it from and what to pay are yours. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Solar Guide accepts no liability for loss or damage arising from reliance on anything published here, including equipment purchased, contracts entered into, work carried out, or savings that did not materialise.
This does not exclude any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
